Google Calendar Hex Codes: Every Default Color

Google Calendar has 11 built-in event colors (Tomato #D50000 through Graphite #616161) and 24 calendar colors. This page lists every one with its official name, hex code, and RGB value — the complete reference — plus curated custom palettes for going beyond the defaults.

The 11 Google Calendar event colors

Event colors apply per-event: open any event's color menu and one of these 11 overrides the color it inherited from its calendar. These are the values Google's own picker uses, and the same names the Google Calendar API returns.

The 24 Google Calendar calendar colors

Calendar colors apply to a whole calendar (Work, Personal, a shared team calendar), and every event on that calendar inherits the color unless you override it per-event. The 24 options include all 11 event colors plus 13 extras like Cobalt, Pumpkin, and Radicchio.

Custom hex codes beyond the defaults

Google Calendar supports custom colors natively — you aren't limited to the tables above. What it lacks is any way to save a set of hex codes as a named, reusable palette: every custom pick is one-off, and there's no way to apply the same six colors consistently across your events. That's the gap the CalPalette Chrome extension fills: enter your hex codes once, save them as a palette, and apply them with one click. Two examples from the palette library:

    Frequently asked questions

Can Google Calendar use hex colors?

Yes. Beyond the 11 built-in event colors and 24 calendar colors, Google Calendar supports picking custom colors natively. What it can't do is save a set of hex codes as a reusable palette — each custom pick is one-off. The CalPalette Chrome extension (Chrome, Edge, Brave) adds saved palettes: the free plan stores up to 4 colors, Pro is unlimited with cloud sync.

What are the default Google Calendar colors' hex codes?

The 11 event colors are Tomato #D50000, Flamingo #E67C73, Tangerine #F4511E, Banana #F6BF26, Sage #33B679, Basil #0B8043, Peacock #039BE5, Blueberry #3F51B5, Lavender #7986CB, Grape #8E24AA, and Graphite #616161. The 24 calendar colors include all of these plus extras like Cobalt #4285F4, Pumpkin #EF6C00, and Radicchio #AD1457.

What is the hex code for Google Calendar's Peacock color?

Peacock is #039BE5 (RGB 3, 155, 229) — the bright blue in the event color picker. Other frequently looked-up values: Tomato is #D50000, Basil is #0B8043, Blueberry is #3F51B5, and Graphite is #616161.

How do I apply an exact hex code to a Google Calendar event?

With the CalPalette extension installed, open the event's color menu in Google Calendar and use the "+" button next to the standard colors to enter any hex code. Saved colors become one-click options on every event. CalPalette applies colors via CSS in your browser, so custom colors are visible to you and other CalPalette users; people without the extension see Google's defaults.

Are event colors and calendar colors the same in Google Calendar?

No. A calendar color applies to an entire calendar and is inherited by all of its events; there are 24 of them. An event color overrides the inherited color on a single event; there are 11. All 11 event color names appear in the calendar set with identical hex values, and the calendar set adds 13 extras such as Cocoa #795548 and Wisteria #B39DDB.
